Yagmurlu Pazar Gunu/ A Rainy Sunday

Ari Cokana'nın Fener kitabını okudugumdan beri, Kariye Muzesindeki "Meryem'in ilk adımları" konulu mozaik panoyu gormek istiyordum.

Ever since I read Ari Cokana's Fener, I have been dying to see the mosaic panel called "Mary's First Steps" in the Chora Museum. I was surprised that I did not remember this particular panel in Chora where I have been to numerous times. Finally this morning, despite the cold, I found myself at Chora, by Mary's First Steps. It was captivating. The angle wasn't right to take a photo and I didn't buy the catalog thinking that I would be back.

Then I returned to the hospital. I spoke to Halis for a long time and played the national anthem, the May day song, and to appeal to his latin blood, Cuando Sali de Cuba and Commandate Che Guevera, from the internet. Afterwords he looked with such meaning that it was all worth it.

It was a busy Sunday and my work in the morning went really well. I now do some of my work at home.

  1. Thanks for drawing my attention to Mary's first steps Figen.
I remember seeing it many years ago and still have the catalogue.
    Truly a timeless image.
My nephew is at this stage just now; I was watching him make them just a few days ago at his home in Kefalonia, thanks to Skype.
Some things never change, thank God.
    Best wishes Jimmy.
